JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 20:  Jammu and Kashmir Advisory Board for Development of Kisans in collaboration with Animal Husbandry Department (AHD) today organized a mega Kisan Sammelan cum Interactive session with dairy sector farmers and Advisory Board members at Kisan Kendra, Jammu.

Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Agriculture Production Department, Atal Dulloo, was the chief guest on the occasion while Vice Chancellor, SKUAST Jammu, Dr J P Sharma was the guest on the occasion.

Director General CAD, Jammu, R S Tara, Director Animal Husbandry, Krishal Lal, Director Agriculture, Jammu, K K Sharma, Director, Horticulture, Ram Sevak, Director Horticulture Planning and Marketing, Vikas Sharma, MD J&K Agro Industries Development Corporation, Arun Manhas, Secretary, JK Advisory Board for Kisans, Hamid Wani, concerned HoDs of allied departments besides members of Kisan Board, progressive farmers and growers were also present on the occasion.

ACS, while addressing on the occasion, said that the main purpose of this brain storming interaction program is to get feedback from farmers regarding agriculture and allied sectors for formulation of a comprehensive vision document by the apex committee. He stressed on promotion of Farmer Producer Organizations by strengthening whole value chain with special focus on entrepreneur development. 

Dalloo said that the Sammelan was organized to know issues being faced by the farming community through board members besides discussing best possible ways to arrive at best solutions.

During the program, the members and progressive farmers especially belonging to dairy sector highlighted their issues including insurance scheme for crops and animals in every district, revision of compensation rate, extension of IDDS scheme etc.

ACS informed the gathering that the J&K government has launched several pro-farmer initiatives like Integrated Dairy Development Scheme 2021-22 and livestock Insurance which are yielding desired results.

Dulloo advised the farmers to take full advantage of schemes under National Horticulture Board, AIF, PMFME, KCC and SHC to enhance their living standards. He cautioned the dairy farmers to be vigilant against LSD besides exhorting upon them to take curative as well as preventive measures in time.  He assured them that their all genuine demands would be fulfilled so that Agriculture and its allied sectors especially dairy sector could be strengthened further.

While speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor SKUAST highlighted various initiatives being taken up by the University saying that all technologies of SKUAST Jammu will be presented in the field through members of Kissan Advisory Board.

 Deputy Director, National Horticulture Board, Sansar Ahmed, highlighted the objectives of Agriculture and allied schemes launched for welfare of farmers through power point presentation.
