Srinagar, Feb 09: The Anantnag administration has taken over a two-story commercial building in the Srigufwara area of District Anantnag, which is said to belong to a BJP leader, Sofi Yousuf. The building, which consists of 11 shops, was constructed on 25 Marlas of State land that was allegedly encroached upon by Yousuf.
According to official sources, the possession of the building was taken by the concerned officials and handed over to the Rural Development Department (RDD) Kashmir for public use. This action was taken after it was discovered that Yousuf, who is affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party, had raised the building on State-owned land.
Despite the allegations against him, Yousuf has claimed that he possesses valid documents for the land and is willing to produce them before the relevant authorities. However, the Anantnag administration has taken possession of the building and has plans to utilize it for public benefit through the RDD Kashmir.
This action taken by the administration serves as a reminder that no one, regardless of their political affiliations, is above the law and that the State’s land will not be allowed to be encroached upon illegally.
