The shocking revelation of rotten mutton in Kashmir has left people disturbed and distrustful. For families, the simple act of dining out now feels risky, and the sense of safety that food should bring has been shaken. Trust, once broken, is never easy to rebuild and that is the greatest damage this incident has caused.
As cafe owners and members of this trade, we feel the pinch as much as the public does. We understand the fear and uncertainty. Customers are right to demand accountability, and we join them in urging authorities to punish the guilty and make details public. At the same time, it is important to remember that most restaurants and cafes in the Valley work tirelessly to uphold quality, hygiene, and transparency. Our reputation and survival depend on it.
This crisis, though painful, is also a wake-up call. It will hopefully separate the unethical from the honest, and highlight those who serve food with integrity. For us, food is not merely a business ,it is trust served on a plate. We remain committed to winning back that trust, step by step, through honesty, vigilance, and responsibility.
