Kashmir Health Services has introduced an innovative pony service for Amarnath Yatris, revolutionizing the pilgrimage experience. Recognizing the challenging terrain and the physical demands of the trek, the service aims to provide safer, more accessible travel for pilgrims. Equipped with trained handlers and emergency medical support, these ponies ensure a smoother journey through the mountainous paths. This initiative not only enhances the safety and comfort of the yatris but also promotes inclusivity, allowing elderly and physically challenged devotees to participate in the sacred pilgrimage. By integrating modern safety protocols with traditional transport methods, Kashmir Health Services has set a new standard for pilgrimage support.

The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has introduced a groundbreaking initiative for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2024: the “Poney Ambulance” service. This service provides critical healthcare support to pilgrims during their arduous journey, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Conceived by Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rathar, and under the strategic guidance of Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah, this innovative initiative has garnered widespread appreciation from yatris. The Poney Ambulance is a horse-mounted emergency response system equipped with essential medical kits and oxygen cylinders. It accompanies pilgrims along both the Baltal and Phalgam axes, providing immediate medical assistance as needed.
