KU’s North Campus Secures 2nd Place in National RBI Policy Challenge 2023

The Department of Management Studies, North Campus, University of Kashmir, secured the 2nd spot in the prestigious National Round of the RBI Policy Challenge 2023 held in Mumbai.
A team of four 9th semester IMBA students, Noureen Jan, Irtiqa Naaz, Madiha Shabir, and Bazila Mehraj, along with their faculty advisor, Dr. Viqar U. Nissa, represented the Department of Management Studies, North Campus, University of Kashmir, in the national round. The team earned the esteemed 2nd place by surpassing prominent institutions such as IIT-Madras.
The journey to the National Round was marked by significant victories at both the Regional and Zonal levels. The team first emerged as winners of the Regional Round, which qualified them for the North Zone competition. Competing in the Zonal Round against teams from diverse regions, including Himachal Pradesh, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, and institutions like Jawaharlal Nehru University and IMT-Ghaziabad, the students showcased their exceptional understanding of financial policies. The team secured the top position in the North Zone and was adjudged the winner of the Zonal Round of the RBI Policy Challenge 2023, held in New Delhi on December 6, 2023.

Following the zonal round, the National Round of the RBI Policy Challenge 2023 took place at the RBI Office in Mumbai, featuring participation from winners of all zones across the country. The team presented their review of monetary policy before a distinguished jury that included the Governor and Deputy Governors of the Reserve Bank of India, Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India, V. Anantha Nageswaran, member of the Monetary Policy Committee, Dr. Ashima Goyal, and other leading economists and public policy experts.
For their exceptional performance, the team was awarded the 1st Runner-Up trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 75,000. This accolade not only highlights the students’ dedication but also the high standards of academic excellence and mentorship provided by the department. The entire university community extends their congratulations to the team.
