Making Mental Health Priority

SHGSC Held a Webinar on 10th of October for mental health day under the theme ” Make mental health a global Mental Health

Srinagar Hub of Global Shapers Community (SHGSC) conducted a live webinar on 10th of October for mental health day under the theme ” Make mental health a global priority.” 

The speakers emphasized the awareness and acceptance of mental health as a menace that can be curbed only if authorities and society take the necessary steps.

Dr. Majid gave five steps formula to make mental health a global priority ” An integrated approach in the community is the only solution to improve mental health illness in the world. The theme of mental health can be achieved in simple six steps formula, i.e., Preventive, Promotive, Rehabilitative, educative, and participative measures”.

Making Mental Health Priority

Mudabir Gulzar stressed to look at the positive aspects of mental health and not confining it to only negatives ” We always think of negatives when we talk about mental health. This has somehow made the problem of mental illness more tabooed and difficult to understand “.

The webinar was also attended by Dr Ashraf (DEM, MRCEM (UK)), who shed light on his association with patients with mental illness and emphasized the need for awareness and preventative measures on the societal level. 

The webinar was started by Touseef Ahmad, “Founding Curator/Curator” Of The hub, and moderated by Mehboob Ul Haq,” Vice curator. ” The other team members, Atif Majeed and Syed Uzma, were also present in the webinar. 

The Srinagar Hub is the first registered hub of the Global Shapers Community, an initiative of the World Economic Forum in Kashmir. The Global Shapers Community is a network of young people driving dialogue, action, and change in over 150 countries worldwide.

The speakers for the webinar were Prof. Dr. Abdul. 

Majid Ganai, HOD community medicine GMC Baramullah and Mudabir Gulzar Ph. D Scholar of Behavioural Sciences IIM, Sirmaur.
