Rally part of Department’s effort to explore untapped potential of Gurez

SRINAGAR, JULY 11: Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Ajaz Assad and Director, Tourism, Kashmir, Dr. G N Itoo jointly flagged off a car rally to Gurez here early this morning.

The three day car rally organised by a local adventure group, comprises about 50 4×4 SUVs which shall pass through Razdan pass and reach Davar tonight. Tomorrow the participants of the rally would visit Chakvali and Habba Khatoon springs. The rally would be back to Srinagar by July 13. During the rally, the participants would have bonfire sessions and cultural interactions with local youth.

The rally is part of the efforts by the Department to explore the untapped tourism potential of Gurez valley. The Department has already planned a Gurez festival soon to attract more tourists to the virgin valley and bring it adequately on the tourist map of Jammu & Kashmir.

Wishing the participants of the rally well, the Director Tourism hoped that the rally would herald a new phase of tourist footfall to Gurez valley and both tourists and local stakeholders would benefit equally from the endeavour.
