Police Register FIR Over Circulation of Provocative Social Media Content

Srinagar, March 04:  Shopian Police have taken cognizance of the circulation of alleged provocative content on social media platforms that was found to be prejudicial to the maintenance of public order.

According to officials, an individual identified as Javid Ahmad Khanday, son of Ali Mohd Khanday and resident of Sazan Keegam, was allegedly involved in sharing and propagating certain videos accompanied by captions and comments which were prima facie capable of disturbing public peace and adversely affecting the law and order situation.

Police Register FIR Over Circulation of Provocative Social Media Content

In this connection, FIR No. 26/2026 has been registered at Police Station Shopian, falling under Police Post Keegam, under relevant provisions of law. Investigation into the matter has been initiated, and further legal action shall be taken as warranted under law, police said.

Reiterating their firm commitment to maintaining peace and public order, Shopian Police advised the general public to exercise responsibility and restraint while using social media platforms. Citizens have been urged to refrain from posting or sharing any content that may disturb public tranquility, warning that any violations will be dealt with strictly in accordance with law.
