Srinagar: The second edition of the Role Model Series by India’s International Movement to Unite Nations (I.I.M.U.N.) took place in Srinagar, aimed at reconnecting students with core values and offering real-life inspiration amid the dominance of OTT platforms, gaming, and social media.
The event was attended by over 500 students from 25+ schools across Kashmir, including regions from Anantnag to Baramulla, and Bandipora to Budgam. This initiative showcased a blend of professional achievements and personal integrity, with a focus on shaping future leaders.
The speakers included some of the country’s most esteemed figures: Dr. Kiran Bedi (IPS, Former Lt. Governor of Puducherry), Nasir Sogami (Advisor to CM J&K), Tanvir Sadiq (MLA and JKNC Chief Spokesperson), Iltija Mufti (Political Leader), Athar Aamir (IAS, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam), and Yousuf Tarigami (MLA Kulgam).
Dr. Kiran Bedi’s speech was one of the event’s highlights. She remarked, “The Kashmiri youth have always been talented. The issue has been lack of opportunity. I.I.M.U.N. is doing commendable work in filling that gap—and what’s remarkable is that it’s entirely student-led.”
I.I.M.U.N., founded in 2011, is a youth-driven organization promoting peace, non-violence, and leadership among teenagers. With over 7,000 volunteers, the organization hosts 108 annual conferences, literature festivals, and leadership programs across India and internationally.
