In the span of merely two months, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra has emerged as a captivating force within the nation of India, garnering an overwhelming participation of over 15 crore enthusiastic individuals. The sheer magnitude of people actively engaging in this monumental journey is a resounding testament to the Yatra’s profound influence, steering the collective will towards a path of prosperity and inclusivity for India. At its core, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra stands as a groundbreaking initiative, tirelessly striving to achieve the ambitious goal of 100% saturation of government schemes throughout the entire country.

The surge in people’s involvement witnessed a remarkable uptick following the Yatra’s initiation in the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana. Initially reaching out to 2.06 crore individuals by the conclusion of Week 4 on December 13, 2023, the numbers rapidly escalated to 5 crores by the close of the 5th week on December 22, 2023. Over the subsequent four weeks, the Yatra accomplished the monumental feat of drawing in 10 crore participants, surpassing the 15 crore milestone. As of January 17, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra dashboard proudly displays a participant count of 15.34 crore, spanning 2.21 lakh Gram Panchayats and 9,541 urban locations.

Jan Bhagidari, meaning “Every Step Together,” epitomizes the Yatra’s essence, encapsulating the spirit of public participation. Championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this initiative aims to disseminate welfare schemes to every eligible individual via Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) vans traversing cities and villages. These vans serve as conduits of knowledge, imparting information on government schemes, sustainable farming practices, and promoting access to affordable healthcare, sanitation, and financial independence.

VBS Yatra's Impact Grows

As of January 17, 2024, health camps conducted during the Yatra have screened over 4 crore people, with more than 38 lakh registrations on My Bharat. The issuance of over 2 crore Ayushman Bharat health cards is a pivotal step towards ensuring accessible healthcare for all. The Yatra’s extensive reach spans over two lakh Gram Panchayats, with over 11 crore people pledging their commitment to building a developed India by 2047.

The tangible impact of the Yatra is evident at the grassroots level, with over 1 lakh Gram Panchayats achieving 100% saturation for Ayushman Cards, empowering millions with healthcare access. Furthermore, the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ scheme has facilitated clean water access in over 79,000 Gram Panchayats, and digitization of land records in more than 1.38 lakh Gram Panchayats promotes transparency and security. A noteworthy achievement is witnessed in over 17,000 Gram Panchayats achieving ODF Plus compliance, underscoring a commitment to clean and healthy living.

Beyond mere statistical achievements, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra has succeeded in nurturing a shared dream—an aspiration for an India where progress permeates every doorstep, where prosperity is a shared reality, and where development translates into empowered lives. With each covered Gram Panchayat, each enrolled beneficiary, and each pledge taken, the Yatra propels India closer to the realization of this collective dream.

Scheduled for January 18, 2024, at 12:30 PM, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will engage in a video conference interaction with beneficiaries of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra. This event will witness the participation of thousands of beneficiaries from across the country, alongside Union Ministers, MPs, MLAs, and local representatives. The Prime Minister’s proactive engagement has been a consistent feature since the Yatra’s launch on November 15, 2023, with multiple video conferencing interactions and a physical engagement during his visit to Varanasi in December.

The overarching objective of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is to attain saturation of flagship government schemes, ensuring timely and comprehensive benefits to all targeted beneficiaries. The milestone of crossing 15 crore participants stands as a testament to the Yatra’s resounding success, creating a profound impact on the ground and uniting people nationwide towards a shared vision of a developed and thriving Bharat.
