National Tourism Day was joyously celebrated in Sonamarg with enthusiastic participation from various stakeholders. The event featured captivating Ice Skating displays, a drive to promote responsible tourism, and a commendable sanitation initiative on Thursday. The local hotel association’s investment in ice skating equipment for winter sports promotion was well-received.Attendees included hoteliers, pony association representatives, adventure tourism enthusiasts, and members of the Ice Skating Association of J & K.
The event aimed to boost tourism in Sonamarg by showcasing its diverse attractions and promoting adventure and winter tourism. Local and national skaters demonstrated their skills, adding an exciting touch to the celebrations and enhancing Sonamarg’s appeal to tourists.
On the occasion, the Department of Tourism and SDA highlighted future plans, including the implementation of prepaid systems for pony rides, a positive step toward tourism promotion and adopting best practices.
Pertinently, various associations and organizations are actively preparing to host more events, including national-level championships, positioning Sonamarg as a premier winter sports hub.
