Teachers are held in the highest regard and are of utmost importance in the Islamic tradition. Knowledge and education are deeply cherished values within Islamic culture. Schools are strongly encouraged to foster an atmosphere of gratitude and respect for their teachers on a daily basis. This dedication to acknowledging the role of educators is not unique to Islam; expressing gratitude and the pursuit of knowledge are universally esteemed virtues across religions. Shaping Minds, Building Futures
Across their lifetimes, individuals of all faiths are encouraged to pursue education, with teachers serving as invaluable conduits of knowledge. Teachers’ Day is celebrated as a secular commemoration in numerous nations worldwide, including those with substantial populations. This observance is a heartfelt gesture to commemorate and appreciate the profound contributions of teachers to society. Teachers’ Day typically encompasses a diverse range of activities and events designed to convey gratitude for teachers’ significant contributions to the field of education.
On Teachers’ Day, students often express their appreciation for their educators through various gifts, ranging from delectable chocolates to fragrant bouquets and even practical stationery items. However, it is vital to recognize that such expressions of appreciation, honor, and respect should not be confined to a single day. Teachers deserve respect and recognition throughout their lives, given their pivotal role in shaping the minds of generations.
As we journey from elementary to higher secondary education, we encounter numerous teachers. Among them, a select few leave an indelible mark on our hearts and memories. When it comes to expressing gratitude, my deepest appreciation is reserved for the esteemed mentor, Shri Bhagat Ram Sir of Shangroo Town.
Shri Bhagat Ram Sir’s approach to education resembled a captivating theatrical performance, through which he imparted wisdom to us consistently and with unwavering passion. His tireless efforts were infused with tremendous enthusiasm and unwavering devotion, leaving an indelible imprint on our eager minds. I vividly recall my elementary school days when our remarkable teacher, despite his affiliation with a private institution, generously shared her personal insights to adorn our notebooks.
Beyond the mere dissemination of knowledge, he intricately wove life’s invaluable lessons into his teachings. His nurturing of our communication skills remains etched as the most cherished aspect of his pedagogy. His enduring influence extends beyond my own experiences; whenever my circle of friends reunites today, his name resounds in collective reminiscence. He not only imparted knowledge but also left an indelible mark on the canvas of our memories.
I embarked on my academic journey as a lackluster student in a government school. During those initial stages of my education, I struggled to keep pace with my peers. Shri Bhagat Ram generously invested his precious time in nurturing my intellectual growth, even offering a supportive hand in guiding my early attempts at writing. His love and boundless patience served as the vibrant threads that wove the fabric of my academic growth.
I must also mention Dev Raj Sir, our English teacher, who served as a guardian figure and poured his heart and soul into teaching us. His animated lessons, where he passionately elucidated word meanings, remain vivid in my memory. As the passage of time has swept us away from those cherished days, we find ourselves inquisitive about the whereabouts of these exceptional mentors. Perhaps they have embarked on the journey of marriage and parenthood, passing on their wisdom to the next generation.
We fervently hope that their own children encounter teachers as extraordinary as they were. Our very existence and achievements are owed to these incredible educators who have shaped us into the individuals we are today. Words alone cannot fully capture their profound impact, and if we were to recount their stories, time itself would fall short.
Our hearts overflow with deep gratitude and admiration for these guiding lights in our lives. May the blessings of Almighty God pour upon them, and may their days be filled with boundless love and happiness. While Shri Bhagat Ram Sir may no longer be with us, I offer my prayers to God for providing eternal peace in the Heavenly Abode to him, the provider of everlasting teaching and guidance. Today, I proudly serve as a Lecturer in the discipline of Environmental Science at Govt HSS Khellani, Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, and a testament to the lasting impact of dedicated teachers like him.
