Health Deptt conducts Special camps for Nomads in Tehsil Gundna

DODA, JULY 07: Primary Health Centre Gundna organized a series of health awareness and medical checkup camps in the higher reaches of the Tehsil Gundna to reach out to the nomadic people residing there with no access to the Medicare facilities. Health Department conducts Special camps for Nomads in remote areas of Tehsil Gundna

The camps were held as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and outreach programme, under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ab Hamid Zargar and guidance of the local BMO.

The camp was organized at Hila Dhar, Handpathar Dhar and  Yungwan Dhar for the general checkup including NCD and TB screening of the nomadic population living in high altitude meadows.  

During the camps, more than 110 nomads, including old age, women and children were examined and screened by the health team, who travelled 4-5 hours of long distance by foot to reach the campsite. The patients were also provided free medicines by the health department team.

Meanwhile, the CMO Doda Dr A H Zargar has asked the BMOs to conduct such health camps in different areas on regular intervals to provide healthcare at the doorstep of the nomads. The nomadic community appreciated the health department for the people friendly health initiative.

The health team,  headed by Dr Hamid Parray, comprised  Sajad Akhtar (HE), Arshad Latief (Lab Tech), Ajaz Ahmed (ISM Phst) and Ghulam Rasool (MTS.
