Stresses on effective implementation of IDCF programme

BANDIPORA, JUNE 05: The Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed on Monday kick-started Intensive Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) campaign at District Hospital Bandipora. DC B’pora kick starts IDCF campaign at Distt Hospital
He was accompanied by Nodal officer coordination Mohd Ashraf Hakak, CMO Bandipora, Dr.Rafi Ahmad Salathi, MS Bandipora Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad and other concerned.
Speaking on the occasion the DC said that the IDCF campaign is initiated by the Government of India to raise awareness about diarrhoea prevention and control.
He said the campaign aims to reduce the prevalence of diarrhea among children under the age of five by promoting key interventions such as oral rehydration therapy (ORT), zinc supplementation, clean water, improved sanitation, and proper hygiene practices.
Dr. Owais highlighted various approaches for childhood diarrhoea control including protect approach, prevent approach and treatment approach.
Signifying the importance of prevention and mitigation methods, Dr. Owais stressed on awareness campaigns to achieve the goal of IDCF to attain zero child deaths due to childhood diarrhoea.
Dr. Owais on the occasion stressed on effective implementation of the Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) campaign in the district with special focus to high priority areas and vulnerable communities.
Chief Medical Officer Bandipora, Dr. Rafi Ahmad Salathi apprised the DC that during the IDCF, various activities are organized at the community/ Village level, including awareness programs, health camps, door-to-door visits, and distribution of ORS and demonstration besides establishment of ORS and Zinc corners for treatment of diarrhoea and promote standard case management of diarrhoeal cases at health facility level.
