Madiha Talat, a visionary entrepreneur from the enchanting Kashmir region, is boldly shaping the landscape of organic beauty products with her innovative venture, “RuPosh.” Armed with a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Management and a Master’s in Technology Innovations and Entrepreneurship, her journey began during her academic years.

Madiha’s odyssey commenced during her undergraduate studies when she nurtured the vision of creating her own venture. This vision matured during her postgraduate years, where she pursued a certification course in organic formulation. It was this course that breathed life into her business concept. Following the completion of her Master’s degree, Madiha swiftly translated her vision into reality, launching her brand.

The nascent stages of her business were marked by intensive research, a phase she emphasized, saying, “Initially, I had to go for research as it was a completely different field and it needed much research to understand the industry’s potential and meet customer demands.”

Madiha’s inspiration for RuPosh originated from two compelling sources, as she passionately explained, “I was initially fascinated by articles extolling the health benefits of essential oils. Simultaneously, I recognized the abundance of native plants in the Kashmir Valley, such as high-quality lavender, rose musk, rosemary, and cedarwood, all of which met global standards of excellence.”

“I urge others, especially the youth facing limited job opportunities, to harness the profusion of natural resources in the Kashmir Valley”

She went on to highlight her entrepreneurial insight, saying, “I noticed that the potential of these indigenous herbs and plants remained largely untapped. This realization prompted me to seize the opportunity to utilize these readily available raw materials and add significant value to my brand. I envisioned extracting essential oils and herbal extracts from these regional treasures to create superior quality products, a concept that had yet to be explored by any other brand.”

The nomenclature of her brand, ‘RuPosh,’ as Madiha thoughtfully expounded, derives its essence from ‘Rooh e Posh,’ where ‘Rooh’ signifies soul, and ‘Posh’ signifies flower. She explained, “The name epitomizes the extraction of a flower’s soul when oils are derived from it. That is why I chose this name for my brand RuPosh, which is a short form of Rooh e Posh.”

RuPosh’s product portfolio,’ as described by Madiha, encompasses a diverse range of offerings. We provide pure essential oils and a selection of natural and organic skincare products, including face washes, serums, toners, and anti-aging creams, each infused with high-quality walnut extract oil. Our rejuvenation creams feature rose hip seeds, and we offer scrubs enriched with apricot and walnut shells, as well as soothing aloe vera. Furthermore, she added, “our acne-fighting face gels contain rosemary extract, known for its effectiveness in treating acne and spots.”

Madiha continued, saying, In addition to these offerings, we provide sunscreens fortified with carrot seed oil and apricot oil. These sunscreens offer natural protection for the skin, further enhancing our commitment to quality and natural ingredients.

Madiha Talat, the visionary entrepreneur behind RuPosh, highlighted the accessibility of her brand’s products. She expressed, “Our products are accessible through prominent e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart.’ Additionally, she underscored her strategic collaborations with other brands for private label partnerships”.

Furthermore, Madiha shared that RuPosh’s reach extends beyond the virtual realm, stating, our products are readily available in offline retail stores. She further noted, “We have even established our own store in the Sanat Nagar area of Srinagar,’ emphasizing RuPosh’s commitment to offering a tangible and comprehensive market presence.”

Madiha’s journey is underpinned by unwavering passion, as she emphatically asserts, ‘This is passion and, well, my career also. She reflects on her dedication, saying, “This was my passion, which took around 3 years of research in this field. Only then did I start it as my career and launched my brand name.”

“I was initially fascinated by articles extolling the health benefits of essential oils. Simultaneously, I recognized the abundance of native plants in the Kashmir Valley, such as high-quality lavender, rose musk, rosemary, and cedarwood, all of which met global standards of excellence.”

She emphasizes the pivotal role of passion in her journey, stating, “Without passion, it would not have been possible. If there was no passion, I would have given up initially,’ highlighting the driving force behind her entrepreneurial success.”

Before embarking on her business venture, Madiha sought invaluable support by enrolling in the Hoosla Program of the government. She elucidates, “Before starting my business, I registered with the Hoosla Program, which provided comprehensive assistance”. She went on to detail the support she received, saying, ‘The program offered marketing support; facilitating participation in various exhibitions and granting me a free stall to showcase my products. “

Madiha further highlighted that the Hoosla Program also extended financial support through the Hoosla Loan, which provided a substantial boost to her endeavor. In a notable revelation, she emphasized, “Significantly, the marketing support proved more impactful than the financial assistance, underscoring the pivotal role that strategic marketing played in her journey.”

Madiha’s vision extends far beyond her business, as she passionately articulated, “I urge others, especially the youth facing limited job opportunities, to harness the profusion of natural resources in the Kashmir Valley”. She envisions a future where innovative ideas not only secure livelihoods but also pave the way for others.

She further outlined her ultimate objectives, stating, “My ultimate goal is to elevate the RuPosh brand to international acclaim, setting a new standard in the industry.” She added, “In the short term, my goal is to make RuPosh products accessible in every corner of my homeland, ensuring that the benefits of our natural and organic products reach far and wide.”

Madiha Talat’s RuPosh has evolved into a brand synonymous with self-reliance, women’s entrepreneurship, and empowerment. Her remarkable journey has earned accolades from prominent figures such as Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, who, in the 16th edition of ‘Awaam ki Awaaz,’ lauded her indomitable spirit and pioneering contribution to the world of organic beauty products. Madiha’s achievements serve as a testament to the power of determination and innovation in the field of entrepreneurship.
